How to call an international number from your browser
A practical walkthrough of country codes, browser microphone access, rates, and what the person you call will experience.
What you need
You need a supported browser, a working microphone, an internet connection, and the complete international number. The person you call only needs their normal mobile or landline—they do not need the same app or an AhoyDial account.
1. Write the number in international format
Start with a plus sign, then the country calling code, followed by the destination number. Local trunk prefixes—often a leading zero—may need to be removed. For example, a French number is commonly written as +33 followed by the remaining digits without the domestic leading zero.
- Use the full number rather than a locally formatted contact.
- Confirm whether the destination is mobile or landline when the distinction affects the rate.
- Do not try to place emergency calls through a browser calling service.
2. Review the quote before calling
A useful quote should identify the destination, price per minute, billing increment, connection fee, and available talk time. AhoyDial shows this information before enabling the call action. Live rates can differ by country, carrier, and line type.
3. Allow microphone access and call
Your browser will ask for microphone permission. Choose the input you intend to use and make a short sound check. Headphones can reduce echo. When the call connects, the recipient answers on their ordinary phone.
After the call
Check the final receipt for answered duration, rate, fees, and total cost. A failed or unanswered attempt should remain distinguishable from a connected call in your history.
