Frequently asked

Answers without the runaround.

01Getting startedCreate and verify your accountVerify your email before entering your calling workspace.
  1. Choose Create account, then enter your name, email address, and a password of at least eight characters.
  2. Open the verification message from AhoyDial and follow its link.
  3. Return to Sign in. Your verified account is then connected to its organization and USD wallet.
  • If the message is missing, check spam or junk and confirm that the address was typed correctly. Never share a password or verification link with support.
02Getting startedWhat do I need before my first call?A verified account, credit, a microphone, and a complete number.
  • Use a supported modern browser, allow microphone access, add enough prepaid credit, and enter the destination with a plus sign and country code.
  • AhoyDial checks the destination and shows a quote before the call button becomes available.
Open the dialer
03CallingPlace a call from your browserDial a mobile or landline without asking the recipient to install anything.
  1. Open Call and enter the complete international number.
  2. Review the detected country, line type, rate, connection fee, billing increment, and estimated talk time.
  3. Run Check microphone and select the input and speaker you want to use.
  4. Choose Continue to call. Keep this tab open while the call connects and while you are talking.
  5. Hang up when finished, then review the final receipt in History.
  • The person you call answers their normal phone. They do not need AhoyDial or an internet connection.
Place a call
04CallingEnter an international number correctlyUse a plus sign, country calling code, and the remaining number.

Use the portable international format: + followed by the country calling code and destination number. For example, a French number can appear as +33 1 84 80 20 20.

A domestic trunk prefix—often a leading 0—is usually removed when the country code is added. Do not paste extensions or emergency short codes into the dialer.

05CallingUnderstand the quote before callingThe live quote explains the route price before credit is used.
  • Rate is the retail price per minute for the detected destination and line type.
  • Connection is a one-time fee charged only when applicable.
  • Billing increment explains how answered time is rounded. A 60-second increment bills answered time in whole-minute blocks.
  • Estimated talk time is based on the available wallet balance and current quote. The final receipt uses the authoritative answered duration.
Check a rate
06CallingSet up your microphone and speakerGive both the browser and operating system permission to use audio.
  1. On the Call page, choose Check microphone and allow access when the browser asks.
  2. Speak normally and confirm that live microphone input is detected.
  3. Select the intended microphone and speaker. Some browsers require speaker selection in browser or system audio settings.
  4. Use headphones when possible to reduce echo.
  • If permission was blocked, open the site controls beside the address bar, allow the microphone for ahoydial.com, and reload. Also check the operating system privacy settings and close other apps using the microphone.
Check audio
07CallingUse controls during a callMute, send keypad tones, change audio devices, or hang up.
  • Mute stops your microphone from being sent while keeping the call connected.
  • Open the keypad to send DTMF tones for menus, extensions, or conference PINs.
  • Changing a microphone or speaker during the call may briefly interrupt local audio. Hang up from AhoyDial rather than closing the tab whenever possible.
08CallingWhy did my call fail or not connect?Check the number, credit, permissions, network, and route status.
  1. Confirm the number includes the correct country code and no unsupported extension.
  2. Check that the quote is available and your wallet has enough credit.
  3. Run the microphone check again and reload after changing permissions.
  4. Turn off VPN or restrictive network filtering temporarily, then try a stable Wi-Fi or wired connection.
  5. Open History to see whether the attempt is marked failed, unanswered, or still reconciling.
  • Emergency, premium-rate, satellite, sanctioned, and other restricted destinations may be blocked. If repeated attempts fail, send support the call ID, destination country, time, and visible error—never your password or full payment card.
09Credits & billingAdd prepaid creditUse secure hosted Stripe Checkout from your Wallet.
  1. Open Wallet and choose Add credit.
  2. Select or enter the available amount and continue to Stripe Checkout.
  3. Enter payment details on Stripe’s secure page and complete payment.
  4. Return to AhoyDial. The balance updates after the verified payment confirmation is processed.
  • AhoyDial does not store the card details entered at Stripe Checkout. Do not close or refresh Checkout while the payment is being confirmed.
  • Available USD top-ups are $5, $10, $25, $50, and $100.
Add credit
10Credits & billingCheck your credit and wallet activitySee the current balance in the header and the full ledger in Wallet.
  • Available credit appears in the top navigation throughout the workspace. Open Wallet for every credit and debit, its date, description, amount, and balance impact.
  • Use Export in Wallet to download the authoritative wallet activity as CSV.

11Credits & billingMy payment succeeded but credit is not showingA completed payment can take a moment to reach the wallet ledger.
  1. Wait briefly, then reload Wallet once. Do not immediately submit the same payment again.
  2. Check Wallet activity for a matching credit and your email for the Stripe receipt.
  3. If it is still missing, contact support with the payment date, amount, currency, and Stripe receipt or PaymentIntent reference.
  • Never email a full card number, CVC, password, authenticator code, or recovery code.
12Credits & billingFind receipts or request a refund reviewPayment receipts and call receipts come from different records.
  • Stripe sends the payment receipt for a successful credit purchase. Call receipts are available from History and show destination, status, answered duration, rate, fees, and wallet debit.
  • For a payment or call-charge review, email hello@ahoydial.com with the account email, amount, date, and relevant payment or call ID. A credit purchase may be considered for a refund only if none of that purchase has been used for a successful call. Once any part is used, the purchase and its remaining credit are non-refundable except where law requires otherwise. Approved refunds appear as wallet or payment activity after processing.
Open call history
13History & contactsReview call history and itemized receiptsFilter calls, inspect final costs, and export your records.

  2. Choose the receipt action beside a call to inspect timestamps, caller ID, quote, duration, rate, fees, adjustments, and final debit.
  3. Use Download receipt for one call or Export for a CSV of call history.
  • A recently ended call may show pending reconciliation until the carrier confirms its authoritative duration and cost.

  1. Open Contacts and choose Add contact.

15Numbers & caller IDCaller ID versus an AhoyDial numberCaller ID identifies an outbound call; an owned number can also receive calls.

The outbound caller ID is the number presented when you call. It must be a verified number or a number owned by the workspace; anonymous caller ID is not supported.

A phone number purchased through AhoyDial belongs to the organization while active and can be configured for browser routing, forwarding, or voicemail when those capabilities are available.

View phone numbers
16Numbers & caller IDRequest and manage a phone numberBrowse supported inventory and review recurring cost before ordering.
  1. Open Numbers and choose Get a number.
  2. Select an available supported country and submit the number request.
  3. After provisioning, use My numbers to review status, monthly price, routing, and voicemail.
  • Availability, identity or address requirements, features, and monthly pricing vary by country. A requested number is not active until the carrier confirms provisioning.
Manage Numbers
17Account & privacySecure your accountUse a unique password, passkey, authenticator app, and session controls.
  1. Open Settings and review Security.
  2. Add a passkey on a device you control for phishing-resistant sign-in.
  3. Enable authenticator-app verification and store recovery codes somewhere separate and secure.
  4. Review Active sessions and revoke devices you no longer recognize or use.
  • AhoyDial may ask for a fresh authenticator code before a higher-risk call or sensitive account action. Support will never ask for that code.
Open Settings
18Account & privacyExport or delete your personal dataPrivacy requests are available in live account settings.
  • Open Settings and find Privacy rights to request an export or deletion/de-identification. Sensitive requests require recent authentication and authenticator verification.
  • Deletion can be delayed or blocked where records must be retained for fraud prevention, tax, financial, legal-hold, or organization-ownership obligations. The request status explains the next step.
Review privacy settings
19Account & privacyInvite someone to your organizationOwners and admins can invite a verified email as a member or admin.
  1. Open Settings and find Organization invitations.
  2. Enter the person’s email, choose Member or Admin, and send the invitation.
  3. The recipient verifies that email, opens the invitation link, and accepts it to activate the shared organization.
  • Invitations expire and can be cancelled while pending. Only organization owners and admins can view or manage them. Choose Admin only for people who should manage organization-level access.
Manage your organization
20Account & privacyCan I make an emergency call? No. AhoyDial is not an emergency telephone service.

Do not use AhoyDial to call emergency short codes such as 911, 112, or 999. The browser dialer blocks known emergency destinations and cannot provide emergency location routing.

Use your local mobile or landline telephone service for emergency calls. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact the emergency service available in their physical location.
